3.48- What is the Definition of “dwelling”

A dwelling is a shelter or home where someone lives. A dwelling might be a house or an apartment. Tents, trailers, igloos are also a type of dwelling.

Under HMDA, a Dwelling is any residential structure, attached or detached to real property. A dwelling includes vacation or second homes and rental properties; multifamily as well as one-to-four-family structures; individual condominium and cooperative units; and manufactured and mobile homes.
